ABOUT US

Athletic Haven is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that supports youth athletes in New York’s Capital Region. Founded in 2016 by area coach Scott McIntyre, the organization offers free or low-cost clinics, leagues, classes, small group training, and more.

Its Awareness Athletics program also provides opportunities for youth athletes to participate in area teams or leagues. Participants are asked to participate in a pay-it-forward program to raise funds and awareness for local charities.

Our mission is to create opportunities for every child to play and compete in sports in an equitable, inclusive and supportive environment, regardless of financial or emotional means.

Athletic Haven has also established the tsm Fund scholarship for athletes who display outstanding sportsmanship in memory of McIntyre’s son, Tyler, who passed away in 2012.

TSM Fund

The TSM Fund was developed in memory of six-year-old Tyler Scott McIntyre, who tragically lost his life in 2012. Tyler was happy and caring, a great teammate, incredibly resilient, and loved to have fun and help people. We can think of no better way to honor his memory than to help youth athletes who display these qualities daily.

In 2023, in one of Scott McIntyre's proudest moments since his son passed, Athletic Haven was able to award $500 scholarships to all of Tyler's 1st grade classmates upon their high school graduations from Averill Park schools through the TSM Fund.

Our hope is to continue to help local youth through our TSM Fund in the future.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER SCOTTY MAC

Scott McIntyre has coached basketball, softball, and soccer at the recreational, travel, high school, college, and semi-pro levels since 2003. The vision for Athletic Haven took shape to honor the memory of Scott’s six-year-old son, Tyler, who lived with joy, enthusiasm, honesty, resiliency, and kindness. These same traits serve as the backbone for Athletic Haven’s core values. However, Scott didn’t want it to be just about his little boy. Frustrated by the growing trend of kids dropping out of sports because they didn’t make the cut or because of the rising cost of youth sports, Scott wanted to be able to help all children in need of better coaching, more opportunities, or financial assistance. He resides with his wife, Chana, and their children in Albany, NY.
