AMIE BLOOM BIO

Amie Bloom is the single mom of 3 boys, Matthew, David and Jacob ages 22, 19 and 16.  At the age of 12 Amie had her first job at the JCC summer camp in Schenectady and from that moment forward she knew that she wanted to work with kids.  Since then Amie was the Director of Ohav Shalom nursery school for 13 years and has been the Director of Temple Israel Nursery School for the past 10 years.

Amie believes that all children deserve to have fun and to be loved and supported by the adults they interact with.  During Covid, when Amie was home helping her boys in online schooling, Amie was inspired by the Special Education teachers who were working with her boys.  The passion and dedication she saw in these educators as they worked daily to individualize their classroom lessons to reach their students online encouraged Amie to go back to school for her Special Education teaching certification.  In the summer of 2021 while working full time and parenting her boys Amie went back to school at The College of Saint Rose to receive her teaching certification in Special Education.

With her start in summer camp, Amie quickly realized that it is often the recreational activities a child participates in that for some children matter the most.  Not all children succeed in school, but  Amie believes it is important to find the "thing" each child succeeds in.  Amie's oldest son is a self taught drummer, her middle son builds the most incredible lego sets and her youngest son is a football player and track athlete.  In each of these activities her boys have found adults to coach and support them to help them grow.

As an educator Amie believes that all children deserve to feel success and she has spent countless hours helping families to find the special education supports to help their child learn and thrive.  Amie prides herself on leading preschool programs for ALL students and ensuring that the program meets each child where they are as individuals.
